Vytorin
Vytorin marketed by the pharmaceutical company Merck & Co. is a cholesterol lowering drug that is composed of two medicines Zetia (Ezetimibe) and Zocor (Simvastatin). This drug is found effective in reducing cholesterol absorption from foods and decreasing cholesterol production in the body. It is used to reduce LDL cholesterol and triglycerides levels and to increase HDL or good cholesterol level in the blood. It is usually prescribed to patients, who are unable to control their cholesterol levels with low-fat diet and physical workout. Vytorin may prevent problems like heart attack and stroke caused by clogged blood vessels. However this medicine is not found effective in reducing body weight. Vytorin has been approved by the majority of the drug regulatory authorities around the world.
