Colcrys
Colcrys is a secondary metabolite that was originally extracted from plants of the genus Colchicum. This prescription drug is used to prevent and treat gout flares in adults and for the treatment of Familial Mediterranean Fever in adults and children above the four years of age. Colcrys is not a pain relief medication and thus, should not be taken to treat pain that occur due to some other conditions. It should be taken only for the conditions for which it is specified. Prescribed for gout or gouty arthritis, Colcrys reduces swelling and pain as well as stops the natural process that causes symptoms of gout. Most of the drug regulatory authorities of the world have approved Colcrys for the treatment of gout and FMF.
