Celebrex Side Effects

Like every medicine, side-effects are also associated with Celebrex. However, it is not necessary that every person taking this drug will experience these effects. Some of the most common side-effects of the drug are:

Drug Interactions of Celebrex

There are certain medicines which may interfere with the actions of Celebrex. Therefore, patients are advised to consult the doctor if they are taking or planning to take any of the following medicines along with Celebrex.

  • Medicines recommended for treating high blood pressure or other heart problems
  • ACE inhibitors
  • Fluconazole
  • Warfarin
  • Lithium
  • Antidepressants
  • Antacids
  • Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug
  • Diuretic

Patients are strictly advised that if they are taking any over-the-counter, prescription, vitamin or herbal supplements they must consult the doctor prior taking Celebrex.

Celebrex Important Warning and Precautions

Each and every drug has some significant warnings and precautions associated with it and it is important for patients to be aware of these warnings and precautions. It is advised so because there are certain medical conditions in which Celebrex is not recommended.

Patients suffering from any of the following medical conditions must consult the doctor prior taking Celecoxib:

  • Decreased liver function
  • Decreased kidney function
  • History of heart failure
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Smokers
  • History of stomach ulcer
  • Seizure disorder
  • Asthma
  • Bleeding or blood clotting disorder
  • Polyps in nose

In certain medical conditions the drug is not at all recommended. Some of those conditions are:

  • If patient is pregnant or breast-feeding
  • Facing bleeding problems in intestine or stomach
  • Allergic reactions to aspirin or NSAIDs
  • Right after or before certain heart surgeries
  • If allergic to any of its ingredients
  • Children below 18 years of age
