Advair

Advair Composition

Advair contains two active ingredients Fluticasone propionate (a synthetic corticosteroid) and Salmeterol Xinofoate (long acting bronchodilator). Lactose and milk proteins are the inactive ingredients of the drug.

Advair Mechanism

The two active ingredients present in Advair, Fluticasone propionate (a synthetic corticosteroid) and Salmeterol Xinofoate, works together to improve the function of the lungs. In asthma, the airways of the lungs get narrowed due to inflammation and may also be blocked by mucus. This makes it difficult for air to get into and out of the lungs. Fluticasone propionate prevents asthma attacks by reducing airway inflammation and excess mucus formation. Salmeterol is a long-acting beta 2 agonist that works by acting on beta 2 receptors in the lungs. It stimulates these receptors thereby causing the muscles in the airways to relax and airways to open.
