Flovent

Flovent is a corticosteroids group of drug that is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children above the age of four years. Flovent Chemical Composition

Flovent comprises of both active and inactive ingredients. Active ingredient present in Flovent HFA is Fluticasone Propionate and the inactive ingredient HFA is Propellant HFA-134a.

The active ingredient present in Flovent Diskus is Fluticasone Propionate and the inactive ingredients are lactose and milk proteins.

How Flovent Works?

In a normal human being, air moves in and out of the lungs easily through a network of airways. But in asthma patients, the inside walls of the airways are swollen, therefore making the airways highly sensitive. Thus, airways strongly react to substances of which the person is allergic. As a result of this reaction, the muscles around the airways tighten and inflammation inside that airways increases. This also causes cells inside the airways to produce more mucus thereby narrowing the airways and making breathing harder for the asthma patients. Thus, patients are prescribed with Flovent, an inhaled corticosteroid that go directly into the lungs and decreases the airways inflammation, thereby eliminating the chances of asthma attacks.
