Combivent Usage Instructions

Patients are recommended to use this drug exactly as prescribed by their doctor and must not increase or decrease the dosage on their own. It is essential to take prescribed dosage of the drug, as altering the dosage may increase the risk of side effects. Following the usage instructions is important to optimizing their therapy while using the Combivent inhaler:

One should make sure that while using the spray the medicine does not enter into the eyes, so one must close the eyes while spraying the drug.
There should be a gap of at least 2 minutes between the uses of two inhalations.
The drug must be vigorously shaken before each spray.
It is essential to keep the inhaler clean and dry and the inhaler must be weekly cleaned.
Combivent must be regularly used to get the most benefit of it. Patients must not suddenly stop taking the medication.

Combivent Dosages

The recommended dose of Combivent is 1 inhalation 4 times a day and its dosage must not exceed 6 inhalations in the duration of 24 hours. Patients must strictly follow dosage directions given by their doctor, as the over use of the medications can even lead to death in asthma patients. If the treatment with Combivent becomes less effective or the symptoms become worse, one should seek immediate medical attention.

Missed and Overdose

In case of missed dose, one should take the medication as soon as they remember. If it is almost the time for next dose then one should resume with the next dose. Extra medicine must not be consumed in order to compensate for the missed dose.

Overdose of this drug is quite dangerous and hence people must ensure that they do not take overdose of this drug. However if anyone has overdosed on the drug, then immediate medical attention must be provided to the person either by visiting their doctor or by calling to the local poison helpline number.

Storage

Combivent inhaler must be ideally stored at room temperature, 150-300 C and must be kept away from heat and moisture. The medication must be kept away from children and pets.
