Diovan HCT Usage instructions
In order to maximize the benefits of Diovan HCT, it is necessary to take it as per doctor’s recommendation. The following directions are important to minimize side effects and optimize therapy:
- The drug should be swallowed with glass of water
- Diovan HCT can be taken with or without food.
- It is recommended to drink extra fluids while taking this medication.
- It may happen that people need to urinate more often while taking the drug for the first time. So, if a patient finds that they are experiencing frequent urination they should take their dose before 6 pm so that their sleep will be uninterrupted.
- If patients are taking colestipol or cholestryramine, they should ask doctors how to take these medications along with Diovan HCT.
- Even if patients feel that their they are feeling well after taking the medication, they should continue taking it till the time doctors recommends to stop it.
- Tablet should not be crushed or broken in two.
- Take the drug at the same time every day for maintaining even levels of medicine in the blood.
Diovan HCT Dosage Instructions
Dosages are recommended to patient depending upon their age, medical condition, other medications they are taking and their tolerance to side effects. The recommended dosage in most of the patients is 160/12.5 mg tablet taken one per day. The dosage can be increased or decreased depending upon patients’ response to the drug.
Diovan HCT Missed and Over Dosage
If a patient has missed a schedule dose of the drug, they should take it as soon as they remember. However, if it is almost the time to take next scheduled dosage, they should skip the missed dosage and continue with normal dosing schedule. Taking double dose in a day is strictly not recommended.
If patients have taken over dosage of the drug, it is prudent to seek immediate medical attention. The patients can also consult to their local poison help line for seeking necessary medical advice.
Storage
It is important to store Diovan HCT tablets at room temperature between 15°-30°C. Keep tablets in closed container in a dry place and out of reach of children and pets. Keep the drug away from direct heat, light and sunlight.
