Usage Instructions of Nasonex
It is important to use drug as per guidelines given by doctors. The following are directions on using Nasonex Nasal Spray:
- Shake the bottle gently before using
- If patients are using the bottle for the first time, it is important to prime the spray pump. Spray the medicine into the air till the time fine mist appears. Keep the drug away from face while performing this activity.
- Gently blow nose. Close one nostril and put nozzle into another nostril.
- Tilt head slightly towards forward direction while keeping bottle upright.
- Do not use medication in larger or smaller amount.
Nasonex Dosage
The dosage of Nasonex is determined by the doctor after considering several factors such as age of patient, medical condition being treated, other medications that the patient is taking, etc. Dosage may vary from patient to patient:
- For nasal allergies, the recommended dosage in children 12 years or older and adults is two sprays in each nostril taken once a day.
- For seasonal allergies and perennial allergies, the recommended dosage in children 12 years or above and in adults is two sprays in each nostril taken once a day. It is prudent to start the dosage two to four week prior to the beginning of the allergy season.
- For children lying in the age group of 2-11 years, the recommended dosage for treating both kinds of allergies is one spray in each nostril taken once a day.
- For adults 18 years or above, the recommended dosage for treating nasal polyps is two sprays in each nostril taken two times in a day.
Nasonex Missed and Over Dosage
If patients have missed the medication, they are advised to take it as soon as they remember it. However, if the time to take next dose has come, skipping the missed dosage is a wise decision and they should resume with regular scheduled dose. Taking extra medicine for compensating missed dosage is not recommended.
Over dosage of Nasonex is not expected to produce any kind of life-threatening symptoms in patients. Still, it is advised to seek medical attention on immediately.
Storage
Keep medication in an upright position and in cool and dry place where the temperature is between 25°C- 30°C. One should not freeze the spray. Keep it away from heat, light and moisture and at such place where children cannot reach.
