Flovent Side-effects
There are certain side-effects which are associated with Flovent. Some of the side-effects are mild in nature and do not require any medical attention. Some of the common side-effects of the drug:
- Cold or upper respiratory tract infection
- Fever
- Headache
- Nausea and vomiting
- Throat irritation
- Stuffy nose, sinus pain
Some of the serious side-effects of the drug that need to be reported to doctors on immediate basis are:
- Fungal infection in mouth and throat
- Skin rash, numbness, bruising, muscle weakness
- Worsening asthma symptoms
- Lower bone mineral density
- Breathing or wheezing problems
- Blurred vision, eye pain
- Sings of infections like chills, fever, etc.
Flovent Drug Interactions
There are certain drugs which may interact with Fluticasone inhalation and interfere with its actions. It is therefore important for a patient to disclose all prescription, non-prescription, herbal or vitamin supplements to their doctor or pharmacist. This is to prevent any drug interactions. Patients taking any of the following medicines should inform the doctors about the same:
- Conivaptan
- Isoniazid
- Imatinib
- Antifungal medications
- Antibiotics
- Antidepressants
- HIV/AIDS medications
- Heart or blood pressure medications
Flovent Important Warnings and Precautions
Flovent is not for everyone as there are certain medical conditions that may be contraindicated with the usage of Flovent. Thus, patients suffering from any of the following medical conditions must consult with the doctor prior taking Flovent:
- Infections
- Pregnant or planning for the same
- Breastfeeding
- Patients who have not been vaccinated against measles, active tuberculosis and chicken pox.
An important fact to highlight is that Flovent is not recommended for treating sudden symptoms of asthma, as it is not rescue inhaler. Long term usage of the drug may increase risk of certain eye problems in patients. Thus, patients are advised to go for regular eye check-up while taking this drug.
The drug is not recommended to:
- Children below 4 years of age.
- Patients allergic to any of its active and inactive ingredients
